mistake hindering your success?
Don't be afraid of making a mistake. You'll only accomplish
success from doing. In history many brainy ideas have come about
because of a mistake. Don't let fear of failure stop you from
doing what you want.
Good leaders know to learn, not run, from mistakes
I used to think that as I developed I'd make fewer mistakes.
I believed, "I'm going to get better at this, since I made a lot of mistakes
earlier." I trusted that there would come a day when I wouldn't make
very many errors, as I would be better.
What I discovered, however, was that as I developed
I'd continue to make mistakes, but I'd learn more quickly
from them. Personal development helps us
become better leaders as it helps us learn from our mistakes.
Here's how:
1. As we develop we become more self-assured.
As we become more self-assured, we're willing to admit things that
we wouldn't admit if we had lower self-image. We get strong
enough to admit errors -- and learn from them. We become bolder
since we know that even if we make a mistake, we're moving ahead.
2. As we develop we realize that mistakes are not commonly disastrous.
I was glad when I eventually recognized that my errors were
seldom fatal. After I made an error I saw that I'd still
see another sunrise. Mistakes weren't as big a deal as I believed.
In fact, not only are mistake not commonly disastrous, they actually
have the opposite effect in that they can show us the correct
way of doing it. As Henry Ford put it, "Even an error may turn
out to be the one thing essential to a worthwhile achievement."
Thomas Edison could have said the same thing, with one thousand
"errors" before hitting on the discovery he was looking for.
3. As we develop we find that we make the same mistakes unless we learn from them.
Unless I learn from a mistake, I commonly keep doing it again and again.
The question isn't "How many errors have you made?" but "How many of the
same errors have you made?" One secret to success is to not repeat the same errors.
Well, let me tell you that I have taken away any reason you might have
for being afraid of making errors in the personal development area.Everything is
right there... ready made and ready to start pulling in the big bucks.
You just have to stop being afraid!
